We welcome applications for a one-year postdoctoral Research Associate position in Machine Learning for Brain fMRI Data, under the EPSRC project “Learning Sparse Features from 4D fMRI Data for Brain Disease Diagnosis”. This project is led by Dr Haiping Lu, a leading scholar in tensor-based machine learning, in collaboration with a brain-imaging expert in University of Oxford. 

You will develop new sparse feature learning models and algorithms for tensor data, particularly whole-brain fMRI data to help brain disease diagnosis. We will generalise vector-based sparse feature learning methods such as lasso extensions to tensors along well-identified research directions to improve prediction and interpretation. These advancements will have broad impacts in machine learning, brain imaging, and related areas.

You will hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related area with a solid background in mathematics/statistics,  excellent programming skills, and experience in developing and applying machine learning methods to real data.
