I am looking for two PhD students to join my group from fall'17 or Spring '18 as funded graduate research assistants. The project is funded by NSF and involves development of theory and algorithms+code for nonlinear regression applied to manifold-valued data sets derived from diffusion Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) and functional-MRI acquired from movement disorder patients. It will also involve developing statistical summaries of such data sets and classification of such very high dimensional data sets into groups.

Required qualifications: (i) Highly motivated and desire to excell in research. (ii) Solid background in Linear algebra, multivariate calculus, basic probability theory and statistics. Candidates with good background in differential geometry and probability theory are welcome to apply. (iii) Proffieciency in MATLAB and/or C++ or Java programming. (iv) Familiarity with image processing/computer vision will be desirable.
