Call for proposals to host MICCAI 2017

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

This is a general call to solicit proposals to host the main MICCAI conference in 2017, which according to the agreed rotation between continents, will be held in North America.

Local organizing Chairs and venues are selected by the MICCAI Board of Directors from proposals submitted by its members offering to host a MICCAI Conference.  Proposals will be considered at the forthcoming meeting in Nagoya with final decisions made in 2014.

The expectation is that bids will be led by a small number of senior members of the community who have significant experience of running large meetings, and are active in the MICCAI community. Running a meeting requires a large team, and we are keen to see teams include researchers at all career stages to enable junior members to gain professional meeting organisation experience, and to ensure that MICCAI meetings serve the needs of the whole community.

The MICCAI Conferences are rotated among the North American, European, and Asian continents.

Meetings typically have approximately 1000 attendees, who attend a 3 day main meeting and 2 days of workshops. A full bid to organize and host a MICCAI conference must include all necessary details regarding the scientific, logistic, financial, and operational management aspects of the conference.

If interested in submitting a (full) proposal please contact the MICCAI President, Alison Noble ( in the first instance with a brief outline of your proposal. This will be discussed with the MICCAI Executive if necessary, and you will then be advised whether the bid is suitable to go to the Board for consideration.  Full proposals submitted to the Board will be give guidelines on bid preparation.
