Post-doctoral fellow position in advanced MRI neuroimaging research

The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI, www.ini.usc.edu) are world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. A post-doctoral fellow position in advanced MRI neuroimaging research is available at the Laboratory of FMRI Technology (LOFT WWW.LOFT-LAB.ORG) at the Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute of USC (HTTP://WWW.INI.USC.EDU). The postdoc fellow will be responsible for analyzing MRI data from large public databases, development, evaluation and application of mathematical algorithms and implementation of these algorithms and workflow into an advanced software toolbox. The focus of the research will be on development and evaluation of complexity analysis of fMRI data as a novel biomarker for Alzheimer’s Disease.
Through the Laboratory of FMRI Technology (LOFT) and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) at the Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute at USC, the postdoctoral fellow will have access to the ideal environment for neuroimaging research. The LONI image data archive (IDA) is one of the largest brain image collections that hosts various imaging repositories such as ADNI. The high-performance computing (HPC) cluster at LONI contains 4,096 processor cores and 38,912 gigabytes of memory for Big Data brain image analysis and cloud computing.
The ideal candidate should have
• A PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
• A strong background in software development and programming.
• Programming skills in Python, C++, or Matlab and knowledge of MRI data analysis software such as FSL, SPM or Freesurfer also an advantage.
• Prior research experience (publications) in medical imaging is encouraged and a definite plus.
Minimum education: PhD or equivalent doctorate within previous three years
Minimum experience: 0-1 year
Minimum field of expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
